Pearls Before Swine: Balaklava (1968)

This is a really deep, strange, and tragic experience. If you are not familiar with Pearls Before Swine, this may require a quick introduction. Pearls Before Swine is Tom Rapp, and Tom Rapp is a musical poet. This album is a meditation on the tragedy of war. Rapp is extremely creative. The second track on this album, Translucent Carriages, features Rapp breathing heavily in the background. This helps to make you feel what he is singing about. The songs are tragic and beautiful and full of nature sounds like bullfrogs and birds. This guy weaves poetry and music in such a way that it is no more one than the other. An artistic experience that is completely unclassifiable.
