Chad & Jeremy: Of Cabbages and Kings (1967)

This album is amazing. These guys were folkies (of Summer Song fame) but on this album they fully embrace psychedelia, see the title of the album for a clue. The first song on this album, "Rest in Peace" is one of my favorite psych tunes. The second half of this album, titled 'The Progress Suite" tells a story, through orchestration and sound clips, of the rise and fall of modern civilization. Many people, including the now elderly Chad & Jeremy, consider "The Progress Suite" to be "pretentious" but I strongly disagree. If you don't get something, and it's on a psychedelic album, then just drop some acid and try it out. I listened to this album on a trip and "The Progress Suite" was nothing short of a philosophical epiphany. So there!
